This dataset provides estimates of biomass residue availability and biomethane production potential across Victoria for the years 2025, 2030, 2035 and 2045.

The assessment includes theoretical and practically recoverable estimates of biomethane potential expressed in terajoules (TJ), derived from agricultural, forestry, municipal and industrial biomass residue sources.   The dataset supports renewable gas project development, strategic energy planning, decarbonisation initiatives, infrastructure planning and policy development. Spatial outputs are provided at Local Government Area (LGA) and regional scales.   The dataset was developed as part of the Victorian Biomass and Biomethane Potential Assessment project undertaken for the Victorian Government.
